Healing Through Awareness
What is Reiki?
Reiki is a powerful form of healing. It originated in Japan over 100 years ago, and is now being practised worldwide. Reiki means ‘Universal Lifeforce Energy’. It is a process in which energy is channelled through the healers’ hands into the body of the receiver, enabling healing to take place. Part of Reiki’s growing popularity is due to the fact that it does not impose a set of beliefs. It can therefore be used by anyone, from any background or faith, or none at all.
Do I have to be ill to have Reiki?
No. Reiki can benefit all of us whether we are ill or not.
What can we use Reiki for?
The effects Reiki can have are limitless! Below are just some of the benefits Reiki can have…
- support the bodies natural ability to heal
- increase your understanding
- fast stress relief
- energy re-boosting
- confidence building
- relaxation
- spirit contact

- opens your mind
Where does the Energy come from?
The energy used does not come from the healer but is channelled through the healer from an everlasting, universal supply. It has been scientifically proven that during a healing session the biomagnetic field of the practitioners hands is at least 1000 times greater than normal, and is not as a result of internal body current. It was found that not only do the brainwave patterns of the practitioner and the receiver become synchronised, but they pulse in unison with the Earths magnetic field.
How does the healing process work?
Reiki supports the body's natural ability to heal itself. We all have a mind and body connection that cannot be ignored. When any part of our life is out of balance we will become unwell. In order to become well again we have to accept that something needs to change. During a healing session energy is directed around the body clearing blockages. This will bring to the surface the reason for our illness and we can then start to understand and address it.
How long will it take?
The time it takes will depend on the reason for treatment and the clients approach to becoming well. It is recommended that you have at least three sessions to receive the full benefit of the treatment. One session may relieve symptoms but tackling causes behind the illness is a longer process. Reiki is also commonly used as a boost for people who are not ill and come once a month for relaxation.
